A very interesting lot has come our way recently. Commemorative and First Day Covers from all over the world themed around the moon, space travel, rocket launches, satellite communications and air travel. Dates run from1940, through the 1950s, into the 1960s and onto the 1970s. Countries include the UK, USSR, USA, Japan, Australia, Samoa, Germany, Argentina, Switzerland and Ceskoslvenska (Czechoslovakia). A REALLY interesting airmail cover posted from Argentina in the 1940s went via New York in the USA then was opened by the Crown for examination in the UK before being sent onto Dugdale Brothers Northumberland Street Huddersfield West Yorkshire. We wonder what the letter contained? Possibly about importing sheep’s wool / fabric to make into top quality suits and coats? We can only speculate because the envelope is now empty.
